  1. Hey guys, I am not sure if this is new or not. I know recently a lot of the icons and fonts changed on express deals. Last weekend I stayed in South Florida (Boca Raton to be exact) and won by naming my own price. I won the Wyndham as I have stayed at many times both through naming my own price and PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. Today I went on to see how prices were doing as I am going back down there for another weekend in a month or so. Everything looked normal until I logged in to my account. It then displayed 3 choices in the same area and all in 4* category. One was the Wyndham pictured and everything for $68 and PRICELINE EXPRESS unlocked under the Wyndham photo, another 4* with nothing unusual on it for like $74, and a 4* with a unlock padlock and a hint saying I have stayed here before for like $91 and express deal unlocked under the stock icon photo. I have also stayed in the 4* and same zone at the Renaissance there before. Is this new or am I just late? I took a screen shot but it will not allow me to upload it
  2. Thanks thereuare, hope all has been well! Yes, it was just as nice as before if not slightly nicer. Still not a 4* but had a great nights rest there and everything else was a nice time so not a big deal. :) Searching for another trip for next month down there and it turned up after I logged in as an Unlock deal. and another one had a hint I had stayed there already. I will do some searching and if no luck will post about it in the PRICELINE forum.
  3. I agree this hotel is not 4* but I was just in the area last weekend and it did not look bad at all, just take into account what you are paying. Not sure of the dates you are going. Make sure to go to Coconuts restaurant right down the road. I frequent this place and the food is excellent. Hope this helps!
  4. Hey guys, Hope all the regulars have been well. I have not posted lately but here is one. Heading to South Florida next weekend to see some friends. Priceline Express was showing 4* for $86 and Hotwire 4* for $88. I started out bidding at $70 then $75. Won at $80. This is not a bad hotel as I have stayed here several times but it is NOT a 4* hotel. Last time I stayed down here I won the Renaissance for 4* and that was a 4* hotel. Slightly disappointed but it is a pretty nice place for a night so not a big deal in the end. I will make sure to downrate it when I get the survey. Hope this helps!
  5. My brother is headed to Naples again this week. Saw some 4*s on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS for around $90-$110 depending on area. One was probably the Hilton which was totally unimpressive 3* quality, the other was the Hyatt in Bonita Springs which was tempting. The others had resort fees and he wont be there much. Stayed here at Bonita Bay before and was a great value for a place to stay for a night. It was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal listing at $61 and for $82 on Kayak. Had to try bidding some 4*s anyways up to $75 and nothing won. Started out on 3.5*s the second round at $40 and won on my last rebid at $56, otherwise would have just used express. It seems ever so often now the price savings arent much better then PRICELINE EXPRESS. Hope this helps some of you guys!
  6. Thanks Aaron! Although Rosen Center isnt bad and hte price was good I ended up staying at the Dolphin hotel under Florida Resident Rate at $126 per night +++. I was attending a conference and did not want to have to rush to get there on time etc.
  7. Hey guys, hope everyone has been doing great! I have been working a ton (cant complain too much other then long hours :)) and havent been able to leave town much. It looks like some of the Orlando zones have changed lately since I used Hotwire there last. I am going to DW for a conference so I might try for DTD area but The two I am trying to figure out are: check in 8/12 check out: 8/13 I drive south hotel 4* 95% recc. (said last booking was Rosen Center) Free Internet Resort Pet friendly Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Golf Nearby Spa Service and the other is also 4* same zone (said last booking was Rosen Plaza) Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Golf Nearby Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Thanks :)
  8. Hotwire had rooms listed with 3* starting at $55 but didnt have good ratings. Priceline express had 3* but was over $60. My backup was the Doubletree at $79. Wish they had hotels listed above 3* but this will do nicely. Started off at $41 and said if I was raise my bid to $50 I could re bid without adding something. Added another zone and did $46 and won.
  9. Sorry to take so long to write back, I tried looking under booking history because I am guessing I could see them under amenities? or would I have to remember them from when I saw the listing? It always says it lists all of my bookings with PRICELINE in the past but it definitely doesn't show a lot of them and I always log in to my account before bidding. do you know why this happens?
  10. Express deal, they also had a 2.5* for same price and hotwire had a 2.5* for $56. Was reserving this for a budget sensitive friend and this hotel is very near where he needed to be. I didnt try to bid. Hope this helps!
  11. Ive stayed here many times and you can find my reviews on the site. It might not be a full 4* hotel but the location is great and it is usually clean and comfortable. If you set your expectations for the service part low you will have a great stay. At $51 you cant go wrong :)
  12. Started off looking both at hotwire and priceline express deals. This was a possibility for the express hotel but from the hotwire hotel I was guessing it was the B Oceanfront which modern looks didnt appeal to me as much. With the additional 5% off sale on express deals it became my back up hotel as usual. I started bidding cheaper and hit it at $74 so I saved an additional $5 over the express deal for 10 minutes of my time...plus the fun of playing the game :) Very nice resort and although there is a resort fee ($12) its much more reasonable then a lot of other hotels.
  13. I tried to bid to get it cheaper but no luck. After first bid said I could pay the same express price (and miss the discount). I didnt care about which area I was in as I was arriving late at night and wanted to have a full day in South Florida on Wednesday. The hotel was clean and important parts were comfortable beds, great working shower and AC etc. The hotel was definitely old and looked like a 70's 3* hotel that hadnt been updated ever. lol It served its purpose and at a fair price. Will post my review as usual.
  14. This was my back up hotel as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. I tried bidding for a 4* to get the Hyatt or Waldorf resort up to $110 (before taxes and fees) and ti was still a no go. I knew the Naples Hilton was the 4* in that zone and as I wasnt impressed with it last week decided to go for this express deal. It was the Trianon as I had guessed. Nice oversized room and I love supporting local businesses. Much nicer then the Hilton and 35% cheaper too. I will post my trip advisor review in the correct section!
  15. I would say there are def some over rated hotels but nothing that stands out EXCEPT in Orlando. I travel a lot and most of my stays now are Priceline Bids. Orlando is prob my #1 destination I frequent. Hotels here tend to be over inflated in general on the scale. As a rule I wont bid on anything lower then a 4* and with the Orlando prices there is no reason not to. I def let the Survey reflect the bad stay if I feel the hotel is overrated. If the overrating is questionable though and maybe a half star off I try and rate it the same to keep the list here accurate.
